Welcome to the Yukon Party Website.
In 2002, the Yukon Party Government was elected under its’ platform; Together We Will Do Better and again in 2006 under its platform; Building Yukon’s Future Together – A Clear Vision for a Bright Future.
The 2002 election was won on leadership and the economy and it was successful. In 2006 the Yukon Party won another majority government and with a rekindled economy, unemployment at historic lows, increased population and property values back on the rise it continued its vision and direction on the pathway of growth and prosperity it began in 2002.
Responsible fiscal management has resulted in 7 consecutive year-end surpluses and has provided flexibility to continue to invest in Yukoners’ quality of life. We’ve seen the diversification of our economy with growth in the arts, culture, film and sound, Information & Technology, and expanding Research & Development sectors.
On the social side of the ledger, we increased funding for early learning, social assistance, affordable housing and health care centres and taking care of our seniors.
We embarked on Education Reform to place more cultural value in our schools, Correctional Reform to reduce our recidivism and help offenders reintegrate back to their communities. We are moving forward with a Health Care Review to ensure the long term sustainability of the health care that Yukoners know today.
We have completed a Climate Change action plan and an Energy Strategy that will protect and preserve our environment while mitigating and adapting to climate change.
Our work continues in developing partnerships with Yukon First Nations demonstrated by major investments in the Champagne and Aishihik First Nation and Kwanlin Dun First Nation cultural centers.
Our work continues on with investment in affordable, clean energy, improved communication and transportation infrastructure.
The Yukon economy remains robust and our population continues to grow, despite the global economic downturn.
We thank Yukoners for their continued support and dedication in helping us bring Yukon to where it is today. It is a pleasure to serve as leader for the Yukon Party.
