President ~ Carel Alexander

Carel came to the Yukon with her family in 1993 and immediately felt at home.  A banker for most of her adult life, she embraced the frontier spirit becoming involved in several different endeavours.  She started doing property management on a part time basis in 1997 and five years ago made it her full time career.  Carel became a Yukon Party member in 1995 and over the years has participated in various capacities.  She’s pleased to once again take on the Presidency of the Yukon Party during these important times.

Mike moved to the Yukon from Ontario twelve years ago and has considered the Yukon his home ever since. Mike is an entrepreneur, having run two successful businesses and has fourteen years experience working in the Social Service sector. He is currently operating his own property management company and has also been involved in the establishment of non-profit organizations within the community.

Mike enjoys spending time with his family, being active in any outdoor pursuit. He loves hiking and mountain biking as well as traveling throughout the Territory, enjoying the beauty and splendor of the Yukon.

Director ~ Andre Fortin

Andre was born in Quebec City, graduated from Ryerson Polytechnic in Electrical Engineering. He was driving his motorcycle to Alaska in the spring of 1978, stopped for a beer in Whitehorse and made it to Anchorage for a visit in 1997. After short stints to Yellowknife and Inuvik he returned to the banana belt of the North, Whitehorse. Andre has five children and lives on an acreage outside of Whitehorse. He sold his electrical contracting company in 2007 and now enjoys puttering around his shop and doing some electrical work as long it is pleasant and does not take away from daughter, Sarah or his wife, Judy.

Ashten has recently moved to Whitehorse from Prince George, BC. Ashten attended the University of Northern British Columbia where she earned a joint major in International Studies and Political Science with a minor in Environmental Studies. She has a particular interest in Russian and Circumpolar politics. Currently Ashten is a legal assistant and gymnastics coach.

She loves the Yukon for it’s varied landscapes, endless opportunities and small town feel. “I look forward to making the Yukon my home and giving back to the community!”

Director ~ Jess Staffen

Jess recently graduated from the University of Northern British Columbia with a degree in Political Science and a minor in International Studies. Jess was born and raised in the Yukon and has witnessed the Yukon’s many ups and downs. He is involved in many sports and enjoys coaching boxing.

Director ~ Roxanne Vallevand

Roxanne was born and raised in Whitehorse.  In 2002, she began working for the Yukon Party government as Executive Assistant to the Minister of Education and Justice.  When the Yukon Party won another mandate in 2006 she moved into cabinet communications where she continues to work.

Roxanne values family and lives in Whitehorse with her husband and two young children. “Most of my family lives here and I want to see Yukon as a place that my children will remain when they grow up, where there are jobs and opportunities and a future,” she stated. “I want to be part of making that happen.”

Immediate Past President ~ Linda Hillier

Linda is a lifelong Yukoner who has spent much time living and working in rural Yukon and now lives in Whitehorse. Linda has previously worked in government and the aviation field, and is now a partner in a local business, Computerisms. In her spare time Linda enjoys reading, playing softball and spending time with her family, friends and pets.
